Not particularly “matt” and not particularly a “paste” either, rather a sort of sticky cream like substance that emulsifies into your hand and leaves fine hair heavy and greasy looking. IF you are looking for a product which provides matt texture and doesn’t make your hair look greasy, I would go with got2b matt paste, much cheaper and better!.

Good product, bad packaging
The product itself works really well. Holds my hair without stiffening it. But the packaging is poorly designed: gets product stuck to it and morphs over time, making it pointless to twist on and off. Also it smells kinda odd.

Personally, not my kind of hair product. It was a bit gluey in texture and made my hair a little too stiff and unworkable. The smell was classic ‘man’ smell, but on the stronger side that seemed to last quite a while. Not bad, but not a paste I would purchase again for myself.

This is one of the best hair products I’ve used!
I have medium length, fine, thin, gray hair. I am really picky when it comes to what I use to get a little lift and style. This stuff is awesome! It just takes a tiny dab on dry hair to be able to style your hair the way you want it to go. I wash, dry, and take just a small amount of this matt paste onto my fingertips and spread it around (on my fingertips). Then, I usually flip my head over and get to work, fluff out my hair as I work it down, almost to the scalp. When I flip my head back up, I can then quickly move my hair into place with my fingers and use a brush to gently smooth down any unruly places. This works great for me! I do have to be careful that I don’t make any gaps where you can see to my scalp, but that’s with any hair product I use. This sets up fairly quick, so you have to work fast. I find that it just takes a quick spritz of hairspray to keep things in place all day too. In case you can’t tell, I am not a guy. I am up to trying just about any hair paste to find something I like, and I like this. The scent from this isn’t overly powerful, and I use such a small amount that I really don’t notice it much. I also work on a correctional hospital unit, and I don’t want to smell girly and call any unwanted notice to me, so it’s a win. I received this product at a reduced price in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. This really is one of the best hair paste products that I’ve used, and I would highly recommend it

A great paste for thin hair
I have thin hair, so any matte paste or gel really makes it look greasy and matted down.This paste works very well for my hair. It applies, easily dries firm, and then can be broken up with with a couple of passes through the hair after it has dried and will keep shape afterwards. Theres really no scent to it, which is a nice feature.

Excellent product, terrible packaging. I love this paste and will buy it again. Holds firm and is not heavy, a small amount goes a long way, works both wet and dry.The packaging is a nightmare. It looks nice enough, but the threaded shallow tin is a poor match for the product. The threads get gooped up easily, the tin doesn’t fit well in medicine cabinets and it’s impossible to close with wet hands.

I would not say this is a bad product, I simply thought that for my purposes …
I have rather curly hair that is difficult to style or maintain. I kept it short for years, because it was a hassle to think about using product to fashion and coif my hair into something that was not totally ludicrous. After much vacillation, I started opting for longer hair, because I felt it was time for a change, so I did a little research and decided I wanted to start with something that would keep a lot of the form of the hair, but also give me a little control – enter the Matt Paste.I would not say this is a bad product, I simply thought that for my purposes and my type of hair, it has not proven to provide the results for which I was looking, but I knew going in that it could be hit or miss. I want that casual but slightly messy look and this provides simultaneously too much hold, but not enough to tame my crazy curls. This is the first hair product I’ve ever truly used, and if you have shorter, more straight hair, it would probably be a good option to try at least once. I am about to finish off the tin, but I don’t think I will come back to it until I try five or six different brands and product styles and see what sort of formula/hold/shine I’m actually looking for versus what I have imagined in my head.This stuff is thick, tough – the hair product equivalent of what I think when I picture a thick beef jerky. If your hair is dry, it will not be a pleasant application experience; I always recommend you having at least a moist head and set of hands when using. However, I noticed that if either were too wet before application, it would be difficult to spread evenly over your palms and fingers, making it clump in certain places during application, and be noticeably sparse at other points around the scalp.The smell is very pleasant to me. My girlfriend is a bit finicky, she doesn’t think it has a good aroma, but she can be picky. It harks to thoughts of chopping wood or throwing newspapers off a bike in a small, rural English village. Sophisticated, but distinctive, and ready for business.

I ordered this by mistake. I thought I ordered the clay but received this instead. What a pleasant mistake. The paste looks like glue but doesn’t dry hard but still offers great hold. Keep in mind I’m an Asian male and our hair can be hard to work with. The paste has a great masculine, but not overpowering, smell. I’ll definitely be reordering.

Be sure to get Paste and not Clay
I would have given this product 5 stars, but one of the cans was Matt Clay, which has the consistency of shoe polish and is very difficult to apply to your hair as it does not spread well. The cans had bar code stickers that said, “Matt Paste”, but one can was Matt Clay. I didn’t notice it right away because I used the Matt Paste first and the window to return the other can had expired. Be sure to check the cans when you get them to be sure they are what you wanted.

Alright I guess
Has a pleasant woody smell. I find best result for short-medium length hair is apply when slightly damp and dilute slightly with water. Consistency is like smearing Elmer’s glue on your hand. Very hard to apply evenly to dry hair. When applied to wet hair become super hard and clumpy. Package says use a pea size amount but that is so little it’s useless. I don’t see it lasting long.

Have fine thinning hair and product adds all-day body and hold to semi-damp or dry hair as advertised. Matte finish does not overly shine. As with all hair waxes, product should be thoroughly rubbed into hands before application. Priced lower than many similar waxes. Name of the product is a bit “stuffy” and may preclude buyers in today’s casual environment without advertising to raise customer awareness

I have quite short hair at the moment and I like to use this paste to add texture and volume to my hair. It helps me create the messy look that I want in minutes. The paste gives a medium hold that lasts all day.It gives my hair a semi matt look and my hair still feels soft and natural. It doesn’t make the hair crunchy or hard and you can easily rework your style.I like to get some product from the tin, rub it between my fingers and the run it through my hair. That way the product is distributed evenly through the hair and the hair is easy to style.

Wollte von American Crew wegen der z.T. bedenklichen Inhaltsstoffe wechseln. In der Anwendung ist die Paste gut, aber der Geruch! Das ist natürlich subjektiv, aber für mich riecht die Paste wie billigstes Rasierwasser und zwar so stark, dass ich den Geruch nach Stunden noch wahrgenommen habe. Geht für mich gar nicht.

Absolutely horrible
The product arrived promptly. When opened, the paste had separated into a part see through liquid, part cream. I mixed it myself and it smells like a cucumber was stuffed inside a rotten sock. Once used, the result is leaving my hair hard and crispy, much like the old gels of the 1990’s. Back to the drawing board Percy.

Hair holding products are a funny business. It can be quite hard to find a type of product that works the way you want it to and stick with it. Iv’e been trying quite a few different products to see what really works best for me. Iv’e been using quite a bit of the Wax type products that give shine and they do a good job but i find it a bit harder to work with and leaves some waves in my hair. I much prefer the more pliable pomade which usually has a creamier texture. I have short/med length hair and i prefer not to use really hard holding products but i want it to give me a shape i like.Percy Nobleman’s matt paste has an almost rice pudding look to it. It’s easy to spread in the palm of my hand and mix in my hair. once set and dry my hair holds but is not stiff and solid. Has a nice clean smell to it that i quite like. This has been one of the better products that i have used. The tin is comes in is pretty cool too with the twist top.Overall this is a great product that is easy to apply and smells good. Have no complaints about it.I received this at a discount in exchange for an honest review.

Das ist natürlich subjektiv, aber für mich riecht die Paste wie billigstes Rasierwasser und zwar so stark, dass ich den Geruch nach Stunden noch wahrgenommen habe. Geht für mich gar nicht.

Absolutely horrible
The product arrived promptly. When opened, the paste had separated into a part see through liquid, part cream. I mixed it myself and it smells like a cucumber was stuffed inside a rotten sock. Once used, the result is leaving my hair hard and crispy, much like the old gels of the 1990’s. Back to the drawing board Percy.

Hair holding products are a funny business. It can be quite hard to find a type of product that works the way you want it to and stick with it. Iv’e been trying quite a few different products to see what really works best for me. Iv’e been using quite a bit of the Wax type products that give shine and they do a good job but i find it a bit harder to work with and leaves some waves in my hair. I much prefer the more pliable pomade which usually has a creamier texture. I have short/med length hair and i prefer not to use really hard holding products but i want it to give me a shape i like.Percy Nobleman’s matt paste has an almost rice pudding look to it. It’s easy to spread in the palm of my hand and mix in my hair. once set and dry my hair holds but is not stiff and solid. Has a nice clean smell to it that i quite like. This has been one of the better products that i have used. The tin is comes in is pretty cool too with the twist top.Overall this is a great product that is easy to apply and smells good. Have no complaints about it.I received this at a discount in exchange for an honest review.
